I’ve gotten great at knowing exactly what to take, what is versatile that will work for more than one thing, and what are my non-negotiables.

Books, either paperback or audio. I use Audible and I’m always reading some sort of paperback book

Toothbrush, toothpaste and dental floss travel set - oral hygiene is so important and you need to keep your mouth clean and fresh! (https://amzn.to/3r03SqZ )
Extra set of clothes and shoes (if possible) - you never know when your luggage will get lost if you checked something in. If you did, always make sure you have enough to live on in your backpack/carry on! It’s also nice to change your shirt if you’re on a long flight (over 8 hours)
